Dan River Campground and River Adventures has openings for summer jobs thru September 13th, 2020.

The two jobs will center around Dan River Adventures, a tubing, kayaking & canoeing outfitter on the Dan River.

Job Description

Job # 1 – River Adventure Booking

  1. Your main responsibilities will be to answer calls / reply to email and book river adventures.

  2. Secondary responsibilities may include handling monetary transactions (cash / credit).

Ideal Candidate

Candidate should be / have;

  1. Organized and familiar with a computer and associated basic software programs.

  2. Outgoing, friendly and people oriented.

  3. You will be interfacing directly with our customers, so it is important to remember you are a representative of our company.

  4. Clean and presentable appearance.

Job Work Week / Dates / Pay

  1. Job is available immediately.

  2. Pay is $10/hour

  3. Work week will be three (3) days: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

  4. Work hours will be: 9AM to 3PM

  5. Hours will be approximately 18 hours a week.

  6. You will be a independent contract employee (1099), which means we will not take out any taxes, but it will be your responsibility to file taxes on your own.

Job #2 – River Adventure Guide / Shuttle Bus Driver

  1. Your main responsibility will be to drive one of our shuttle buses from Dan River Adventures to the public river accesses in Madison; Lindsey Bridge or 704 Bridge. You will also give short instructions about the river adventure. The shuttle bus pulls a trailer with tubes, kayaks and/or canoes, so you should be comfortable driving in these conditions. Backing up with the trailer may be necessary.

  2. In between river adventures, you will be expected to load tubes, kayaks & canoes onto the trailer for the next trip as well as hose off (clean) equipment returning from the river.

  3. All river adventures end at the Dan River Campground and River Adventures private river access located on the campground property, so you will also be responsible for picking up people from the access and bringing them back to their vehicle where they first entered the campground (¼ mile).

Ideal Candidate

Candidate should be / have;

  1. Outgoing, friendly and people oriented.

  2. Experience driving large vehicle and trailer.

  3. You will be interfacing directly with our customers, so it is important to remember you are a representative of our company.

  4. Able to lift 40 – 50lbs (canoes / kayaks)

  5. Good driving record and reliable transportation to and from work.

  6. Clean and presentable appearance.

Job Work Week / Dates / Pay

  1. Job is available now with immediate training.

  2. Pay is $10/hr

  3. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are our busiest days from May 29th thru September 13th.

  4. Work week will be three (3) days: Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

  5. Work hours will be Friday / Saturday: 8:30AM to 6PM, Sunday: 9AM to 6PM

  6. Potential hours are 27 to 30 hours a week.

  7. You will be a independent contract employee (1099), which means we will not take out any taxes, but it will be your responsibility to file taxes on your own.
